4-H'ers and their dogs at Dog Obedience Class
The members and families of the 4-H Paws N Pals Club have been busy working on their good manners. Well, actually, their dogs have been working on their good manners. Good Manners Dog Obedience Classes have been taught every Wednesday night for the past four weeks at the Allegany County Fairgrounds by Jeanne Klink. Jeanne is the owner of Sow Pawsitive Pet Services. Jeanne is a Peaceable Paws Affiliate and was trained by Pat Miller of Peaceable Paws and author of The Power of Positive Dog Training and Play with Your Dog.

The class has been focused around positive reinforcement dog training. Positive reinforcement does not use choke chains, prong collars, or electric shock collars, but instead uses all positive cues in building a relationship with your dog. The 4-H Paws N Pals Club believes in teaching our youth about responsible pet ownership through positive reinforcement training. The classes have not only included the 4-H member, but the 4-H’ers whole family. Moms, Dads, and siblings have turned out each week to learn how the whole family can get on the same page with dog training in their households. Each member is using an Easy Walk harness as their positive reinforcement tool of choice.
